Welcome!

I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF) and a Lecturer at Goethe University Frankfurt. My research and teaching interests lie at the intersection of comparative politics, international relations, area studies, and security studies. I specialize in studying armed conflict, non-state armed groups, and violence against civilians with a regional focus on the Middle East. I employ a combination of mixed methods, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative approaches. My work is informed by field research and research visits to Turkey, Egypt, and Lebanon.

I am also a passionate teacher and mentor, especially for first-generation students and students from marginalized backgrounds. I strive to create a welcoming and empathetic atmosphere in the classroom where all students feel encouraged to speak up and actively participate.

In 2021, I received my Ph.D. (summa cum laude) in Political Science at Goethe University Frankfurt with a project investigating cooperation and conflict dynamics between armed actors in the Syrian civil war.

My work has been published in The Journal of Global Security Studies, Civil Wars, Terrorism and Political Violence, and Small Wars and Insurgencies. I am currently working on my first book on the internal dynamics of multiparty civil wars.

When not working, I love biking, hiking, kayaking, and playing with my friends' dogs.
